Introduction
The Department of Women Resource Development
was created with the primary responsibility of
addressing the issue of the empowerment of
women in Nagaland. The focus of and services
being provided by the Department could be broadly
classified as under;

To better the socio-economic status of women

To provide support services
-
To mainstream and balance the gender divide, and aim at the uplift of women and facilitate her self-dependency.
The Department has been actively engaged in its primary responsibility of addressing the issue of empowerment of women in Nagaland through their programmes of socio-economic uplift and strengthening the processes that promote all round development of women by coordinating and converging of various schemes and programmes of the Department. More importantly, the Department is committed to the cause of mainstreaming and balancing the still existing gender divide and ultimately translating into reality the goals of empowerment of women.
Since its inception in 2003-2004, the Department of Women Rseource Development has steadfastly been playing its role toward achieving these ends, and is slowly but surely making a deep and meaningful impact in the lives of women in Nagaland through its pro-empowerment and pro-developmental activities, programmes and initiatives.
Key strategies:

Strengthening institutional framework offering support services for women.

Facilitating convergence of schemes meant for women; monitor and review the progress on regular basis.

Enhance economic empowerment of women through skill development, micro credit, vocational training and entrepreneurship.
